STAGE 2!!!

Man, GOD is ridiculously good!  It has been 1 day shy of exactly 11 months since my diagnosis, and the LORD has continued to show us HIS grace, mercy, and faithfulness in our hour of need.  I went to the doc today.  The doctor visits have become so frequent and routine, as have the lab visits, that they appear on my calendar, and we don't really react with great emotion or anticipation as much as we did at the beginning. Today was no exception.  The day began with dropping the kiddos off at school, talking with clients on the phone, you know the usual bank stuff.  My appointment time being at noon was even different than the usual morning slot so the busyness of the day was distracting me even up to my arrival at Beaver Medical.  I was greeted by my usual nurse, weighed in (always a pleasure), had good blood pressure readings, and stuck my nose back in a book.  My reading was interrupted by a cell phone call (I know my wife is thinking "Shock of the century, his phone rang..." right now as she is reading this).  I usually don't take calls when I am already in the treatment room, but this time I did.  While I was on the phone Dr. Gamal came in.  He greeted me with his typical warm smile and handshake, and I mouthed to him my apology for the occupying mobile conversation.  His gentle and understanding demeanor was unshaken as he situated himself on his doctor's rolling stool when he casually opened his 3-ring binder.  He drew my attention to a page in the binder, and with surgical precision used his pointer finger to exact my interest to one word that changed not only my mood, my focus, and my energy level for the day, but my life forever.  That word was NEGATIVE!  God has officially brought us through to the second stage of remission!(cytogenetic remission)  The test was negative for presence of any cancerous cells.  All praise and glory be to HIM!  Our next steps are to continue the course of treatment, and shoot for the 3rd and final stage.(molecular remission)  Dr. G cautioned me that it is common for patients to not ever reach that stage, but nothing is impossible for the LORD!  Thank you again for your continued prayers!  We love each of you!

Who knows when one word will change your life forever.  Enjoy the blessings that the day hold for you.

Facebook woes

Alright, here is the deal. I recently got on facebook and there are probably a gazillion people on that thing that I know from back in the day.  The problem is, I was sort of, well not sort of, I was a jerk!  Not just a tad snotty, or rude, I'm talking full blown JERK!  I was mean spirited and didn't really care about anyone but myself.  I know, I know some of you are wondering what has really changed (heheheheee) but in all honesty I feel I owe some sort of apology or explanation to those I hurt along the way.  How could I ever be a good witness of what God can do in a person's life unless others, who may or may not believe in Jesus, can see for themselves his ability to transform us.  I keep starting to right messages to a slew of high school and college friends only to find myself erasing the message that I tried so hard to get just right, before I can actually send it.
Woe is me!  Any suggestions out there?
With that said, I want Chris to get on facebook because not only does everyone love him, now and then, but he could actually get in touch with so many peeps.  He however has no interest.  If you feel Chris should change his mind....coment here PLEAZZZZZZZZZE!
Hey peeps out there.  It was my husbands vision to have this blog so that we could keep people updated on our family.  Notice there has been no updates since DECEMBER!  HELLOOOOOOO!!!! OK, so I may not be as eloquent as he, but I will attempt to pick up where he left off.  Soon that is, because Marlie is striving me right now.
Love you all!

the first two

Luke 4.18-19  The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim the good news to the poor.  He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor.

God is mounting a tremendous burden in our hearts to see this scripture fulfilled through His people.  After her birthday, Kelton began praying about what Jesus would have her do with the gift cards and cash she had received.  The LORD gave her a vision to provide one man and one woman with a backpack filled with supplies, clothes, food, etc.

Today Kelton and Chris hit the streets in San Bernardino.  They simply prayed that God would direct there steps to the people HE desired to provide some help and encouragement to today.  As they drove around down town, the streets were cold and grey with the looming clouds overhead threatening a chilling rain on those loitering about.  While driving and praying, the LORD lead them to 4th street.

Meet Kristen and Kenneth.  These two beautiful people were blessed to hear that JESUS had guided us to them.

Kristen shared about how she has been on and off the streets for the past 8 years.  She used to have a house, a job, a car, and friends she loved.  One day she fell and hit her head.  As a result of her injury she has heard voices, suffered other mental disorders and has since developed diabetes, and kidney and liver problems.  She spends her nights in the alley behind a local church building and credits the LORD for her survival while on the streets for the last 8 years.  Please pray for her mind and health to be restored, for protection and safety, and for greater faith in GOD.

Tonight is Kenneth's last night on the streets.  For several years he has lived on the streets and endured having both jaws broken with a baseball bat from a beating.  He professes that the LORD has healed from cancer three times.  He loves JESUS and was so thankful for what GOD has provided him.  Beginning tomorrow his pastor will be allowing him to live in an RV in his yard.  Please pray that he is kept safe tonight and that the LORD will continue to give him favor.

We know that a couple of backpacks and jackets are not the remedy for the epidemic that this city faces.  We know that while they are encouraged for one night, and truly grateful, these people have real problems that only God can cure.  But we also know that GOD and HIS power.  We know that Satan has a stronghold in this city and we believe that JESUS CHRIST will loose those bonds as we are faithful to pray and to be HIS hands and feet while on this earth.  Please join us in praying for these dear souls, and the others who are hurting there with them.  Pray that GOD will redeem this city of darkness one needy soul at a time.  Pray that GOD stirs in the hearts of many the same burden He has ours.

4-3=1

This last week, I had another doctor visit.  While there was tremendous anticipation for the test results from the blood that was taken the week prior, the report was not in when I went to my appointment on Tuesday.  But by Thursday morning, we had received the report and confirmed with the doc some great news!  The cancer count is down from 4% to 1%!  GOD is GOOD!

While last month I was a bit discouraged and concerned at the thought that my body was no longer responding to the Gleevec, I have renewed hope.  Rochelle has remained optimistic throughout this process, and the LORD has continually used her to encourage me when I am down and lacking faith.  Praise GOD that HE is always faithful despite our weaknesses!  So with the concerns of needing to switch medicine, and the uncertainty that comes with such a switch being extinguished for the time being, we are so thankful and relieved.

The plan for the time being is to continue on the current dosage of Gleevec (600mg) and check the numbers again next month.  Thank you for your prayers!  Please keep them coming.

Check out big sis Kelts.  Always keepin' it real.  She's not just pretty either, she's sharp as a tack.  Nothing but high marks from her teachers and they were all in agreement with her election to honor role!  Go girl.
